Same blood donation criteria now apply for everyone

As of 1 November 2023, uniform eligibility criteria apply throughout Switzerland. the requirement introduced in 2017 for a 12-month waiting period after sexual contact between men has been lifted. 

Swiss Transfusion SRC is using this welcome change as an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of eligibility criteria. These rules are necessary to safeguard the health of both blood donors and patients. This is why it is imperative that the answers to all questions on the questionnaire accurately reflect the circumstances that apply at the time of the donation.
